3 trophies and 13 gold medals at the Royal Melbourne Wine Awards 2024

The Royal Melbourne Wine Awards was held today and we received some excellent results across the Group including 3 trophies and 13 gold medals.

The Royal Melbourne Wine Awards is one of Australia’s most prestigious wine competitions, held annually by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria. It celebrates excellence in Australian winemaking by recognising top wines across a wide range of categories. Winning an award is a significant achievement, as the competition draws top wines from around the country and is judged by leading industry experts, enhancing a wine’s reputation and visibility on both national and international stages.

This year, the Lowestoft 2023 La Maison Pinot Noir was awarded a Consistency of Excellence Trophy, which recognises exhibits of the same label that have been awarded a gold medal at the Awards for 3 consecutive years. Not only has the La Maison Pinot Noir been awarded 3 consecutive gold medals, but this wine also won 3 consecutive trophies - the James Halliday Trophy for Best Pinot Noir for our 2020, 2021 and 2022 vintages. These awards culminated in the Jimmy Watson Trophy for our 2022 La Maison last year.

The recently released Deep Woods Estate 2023 Reserve Chardonnay was awarded a trophy for Best Western Australian Chardonnay. This brings the trophy tally to 3, with 2 trophies awarded to this wine at the Royal Queensland Wine Awards 2024. As Chief Winemaker Julian Langworthy said: "Of the 24 vintages I have done in Australia, the 2023 vintage stands tall as likely my favourite, and what I see as the best vintage I have experienced to date. A Chardonnay for the ages and, like the vintage my favourite Deep Woods Estate Reserve Chardonnay, ever."

The OSSA 2023 Syrah was also awarded a trophy for Best Tasmania Shiraz.
