Accolade Wines sells Nannup Winery to Fogarty Wine Group, Enters Winemaking Agreement
Monday 15 August 2022: Accolade Wines is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement to sell its Nannup winery southeast of Perth to the Western Australian-based, family-controlled Fogarty Wine Group.
Under the agreement, Accolade Wines’ award-winning Houghton and Brookland Valley brands will continue to be made at the Nannup facility, as well as Fogarty Wine Group’s Margaret River sites, all under the guidance of Accolade Wines Senior Winemaker Courtney Treacher.
As part of a broader relationship, Fogarty Wine Group will effectively produce all Accolade Wines’ Western Australian wine, with the parties exploring opportunities for further cooperation around Australia.
Over 25 years, Fogarty Wine Group has built one of Australia’s most respected wine portfolios, with brands from six different regions including Dalwhinnie, Lake’s Folly, Deep Woods Estate, Evans & Tate, Millbrook Winery, Smithbrook, Lowestoft and Tasmanian Vintners.
Accolade Wines Chief Executive Officer, Robert Foye, said the partnership with Fogarty Wine Group meant the decision to sell the Nannup facility would have no impact on the Houghton and Brookland Valley brands, the Company’s portfolio, or the Brookland Valley cellar door and viticulture teams.
He said the decision followed a review of Accolade Wines’ facilities and its future requirements to support growth plans built around its premium wine portfolio.
“We could not be more pleased to be working with Peter Fogarty and his team,” Mr Foye said.
“Peter is one of Australia’s leading wine entrepreneurs and the company he has built has a wealth of experience and heritage in both West Australia and around the country. Through our agreement, Accolade Wines will have access to the Fogarty Wine Group’s ultra-premium wineries and a broader suite of assets in Western Australia and nationally, delivering opportunities across our combined networks for our brands and businesses.”
Fogarty Wine Group Founder and Executive Chairman, Peter Fogarty, said: “We welcome the opportunity to create this long-term relationship with Accolade Wines as we both have strong brands in Western Australia and a growing presence in Tasmania. Our businesses share a commitment to making some of the best-value wines alongside some of the very best ultra-premium Cabernets and Chardonnays that Margaret River and Australia produces. We see this new relationship as providing synergies in processing while further improving the quality of all our wines.”
