2018 Broadway Cabernet Sauvignon
Why you'll love this wine
Grapes for the 2018 Evans & Tate Broadway Cabernet Sauvignon were hand-picked from our family-run vineyards that showed ideal varietal flavours, pressed straight into barrel, with cloudy juice added to achieve a perfect textural body.
The lovely perfumed lift is reminiscent of ultra-premium Margaret River Cabernet, as is the natural mid-palate acidity, while the flavour is oak driven, holding a lively upfront profile of blackberry, olive and cherry ripe through to a dense balanced finish with great length. Bravo.

Deep purple-black with a vibrant purple rim.

Ripe, layered and complex while still having the lovely perfumed lift that the best Margaret River Cabernet wines are renowned for. Blackberry, olive and dry earth with a touch of bright leafiness define the aroma and flavour of the wine.

The flavour is lingering and memorable with a lovely dry, subtle tannin grip typical of young Cabernet Sauvignon.
cellaring
Drinking beautifully now, or keep for up to six years from vintage.
Technical
vintage
A prolonged cool and wet growing season meant the vines were lush and healthy heading into ripening. This resulted in later harvest dates, accentuated by the cool and wet ripening months; conditions not experienced in Western Australia for more than ten years. These conditions, coupled with the absence of heat events, produced highly aromatic reds with pristine natural acidity.
winemaking
The fruit for this wine was sourced largely from premium vineyards across Margaret River. The wine underwent 10-14 days of skin contact during fermentation and was then pressed directly to barrel and aged for around 12 months. The barrels consisted of 15% new oak and 85% seasoned oak.

Reviews
Ray Jordan, The West Australian Wine Guide 2021
Plenty of flavour intensity in this medium-bodied cabernet. Blackcurrant displays a juicy richness. Then there is a black olive and savoury meaty influences. Toasty mocha oak works into the fruit to create an appealing wine for the medium term.

It's a soft-hearted red with curranty, bay leaf-infused fruit that's been slipped with dark chocolate, the latter most likely ex oak. It's ripe, well balanced and satisfying.
