2023 Estate Viognier

The Estate Viognier is Millbrook's flagship wine and an award-winning expression of this delicious varietal from the Perth Hills.

This wine was wild fermented and aged on lees in oak barrels, providing a richer, softer expression of Viognier with lush apricot, coconut and a nice green apple bite to freshen the palate. An almond savouriness adds texture alongside a touch of minerality, providing a delicious wine with lots of flavour.

White flower and yellow stone fruit, toasted honey-almonds and nougat notes with fresh orange blossom.

White stone fruit and apricots, toasted nuts and a textural palate with lemony acidity.

The 2023 season started with a mild spring with adequate soil moisture, resulting in a slightly later harvest. A moderate summer led to ideal ripening conditions with little pressure in the vineyard and a lack of any major rain events during the ripening season. 2023 produced fruit with optimal varietal expression and balanced acid.

winemaking

100% whole bunch pressed to new and used French oak puncheons. Wild fermented and then sulphured after primary fermentation to avoid malolactic fermentation. Aged on gross lees for up to 8 months before bottling.

The 23 vintage was just so good and with these strong aromatic expressive varieties it has produced wine of exquisite balance and flavour presentation. Typical ginger and spice with a little apricot and orange tang. Plush textured palate with a vital acidity to lift.
